Finding Where To Stay In Siem Reap Best Locations
Palm-fringed villas and gardens, all surrounding an inviting pool, with even better service are the makings of a perfect stay. In the land of $5 hour-long massages, you know you will be in for a relaxing stay. The beauty of our stay at Kiri Boutique Hotel was that in addition to the cheap and worth-every-buck massages you could get in the city, the hotel could arrange these in-house and have the masseuse come to our hotel room if all the temple running has got the best of us.
Below I have listed a few spots covering most budgets just to get you started on your search if thinking of heading to Cambodia’s Siem Reap. Kiri Boutique hotel was also a short walk to Pub Street but also far away enough that we didn’t get the crazy traffic and noise of the entertainment area. I also stayed at another smaller hotel and spa in Siem Reap and will share that soon.

Where to Stay In Siem Reap – Best Neighborhoods | Finding The Best Area To Stay In Siem Reap
Still confused about what is best area to stay in Siem Reap? Well below I cover the various Siem Reap neighborhoods and areas most of the hotels are located in Siem Reap. Central Siem Reap is organized around the Old Market, where a collection of French colonial buildings, shops and guesthouses are located. Siem Reap is quickly becoming a flourishing market town, and tourists can shop for gifts and souvenirs at Phsar Kandal, Phsar Leu and at the night market. More modern shopping venues are at the Museum Mall. To help you nail down the best accommodation in Siem Reap, Cambodia for your budget, below are Siem Reap neighborhoods when majority of the hotels in Siem Reap are located.

- There is a cluster of small villages, stretching along the Siem Reap River. These include Sala Kamreuk Village which is in central Siem Reap on the north side of the river that runs through the town. You can find beautiful Siem Reap riverside hotels in Cambodia. It’s an easy walk into the Old Market, Psar Chas, and Pub Street as are the other villages; Kruos Village, Svay Dangkum, Kouk Chak, Sla Kram. The Old French Quarter and Sivath Boulevard
- This is an old colonial center with colonial style French buildings and architecture. This is one of the best places to stay in Siem Reap if you are visiting for the first time. Sivatha Boulevard is one of the main streets in Siem Reap heading away from the Old Market area towards the Temples of Angkor. It’s lined with restaurants, shops mid-range and luxury hotels. Hotels in Siem Reap Near Pub Street
Where you stay in Siem Reap will highly depend on your budget, how long you are staying in Siem Reap and your purpose and whether relaxing or exploring is the main priority. What I would recommend though, is if you can try and find hotels in Siem Reap near Pub Street.
This is the place where you will spend the majority of your time after exploring the temples. This is also the location where all the bars, restaurants, markets and many entertainment options are located.
Getting to your hotels is also made easy with the many Tuk Tuks that are around the area. You won’t have to pay more than $2/3 for a ride back to your hotel but watch out for the ones that will try and pull a fast one and ask for $5 “because there is too much traffic” on the road leading to your hotel.
Half the time this is BS you can negotiate and pay an additional $1 if it was really late though and not too fussed about paying $5 for a ride – People gotta eat, right? It is still way cheaper than a taxi in London for a similar journey.
Paying For Your Hotel In Cambodia
Cambodian currency is Riel but USD is widely used and more than likely what your hotel will accept as payment unless paying by card. Same goes for shops. Best to bring USD than trying to go to Cambodia with the local currency as most actually prefer dollar.
Siem Reap Airport Transports To Hotels And City Center
Your hotel will either have a tuk-tuk waiting for you or you can take the local taxi. There is a taxi office at the exit of the Airport. Most will charge about $10-15 in and around the city. Most hotels are only about 10-30 minutes from the Airport.
Be prepared for some taxi drivers being picking on who they take based on the location of your hotel. If it’s deemed to closed for them to bother they may refuse to take you but the taxi office may negotiate with another driver to take you. I found it rather silly but it’s something I have found in other countries too(yes, even London sometimes although based on too much traffic in a location rather than how much the cabbie can earn from the trip.)
You can also arrange your transfer from airport to hotel in Siem Reapvia Viator. Most of these are under £5.

The place you stay looks so gorgeous! we also had stayed at one of the Siem Reap hotels close to pub street. I really want to head back to Cambodia soon. Tips on where to eat in Siem Reap’s Pub Street too?
Roberta F - where to stay in siem reap cambodia
I am heading to Cambodia in Feb and was just wondering where is the best place to stay in Siem Reap? We are looking to be as close to Pub Street as possible but still have someone where that has a bit of a luxury feel to it. Perhaps good luxury hotels near angkor wat? Any good location or areas to stay in Siem Reap would be ideal.
where to stay in siem reap backpackers?
Hey, I am backpacking through Asia from lat January and was wondering if you could recommend where to stay in Siem Reap for backpackers? Also any tips on where to eat in Siem Reap cheaply would also be great. Thank you so much. Look forward to your tips.
Francisca - hotels in angkor wat
Yeah, I also go for smaller hotels because I want a more peaceful stay wherever I find myself. I think the Angkor City Hotel is close to the places we want to check out, and I think the pricing suits my budget too. What do your think of this hotel in considering places to stay in siem reap, also can you recommend any additional hotels in Siem Reap near Pub Street?
Bianca
Angkor City Hotel is a great hotel and much bigger than where we stayed. I remember passing it on the way to and from the airport. As great as it is not exactly among hotels in Siem reap near Pub street. This is a lot closer to the airport. The journey from this hotel to Pub Street is at least 20mins on a tuk tuk. Check you booking.com and change the views to show hotels on a map. The way you can see the options for Siem Reap accommodation near pub street much better than looking at the list of hotels by name.
Gwen - Best Location to stay in Siem Reap?
Having never been to Asia, I was debating between places and settled on Cambodia. It spoke to me in pictures and felt like a familiar place. Where would you recommend someone staying for their first time? I am trying to decide on that and it is really hard for me. All these places look STUNNING! Looking for the best location to stay in Siem Reap to make the most of our visit to all the various temples.
Michael W Rickard II - where to stay in siem reap best location
What exactly are UNESCO World Heritage sites? I’ve never thought about traveling to Cambodia, but I do want to visit Asia sometime. From what you’ve posted here, Cambodia looks gorgeous and the food looks delicious. I’m just unsure where to go, where to stay in Siem Reap, how long to stay in Siem Reap and whether I am ready for the language and cultural differences. Any thoughts, Bianca?
Bianca
Those are all valid questions. I think what stops from people travelling is really the fear of the unknown, the planning of a journey or trip into places they think they wouldnt enjoy or be comfortable in. For me, I love experiencing new cultures, I love architecture an I am a lover of photography and just how people’s creativity morphes in these beautiful things around the world. That interest along drives me to seek out new destinations and places I wouldnt have otherwise had on my radar. I am ok with going to places that are not part of the popular instagram crowd. That is partly why I love blogging about these things, to open people up to new places and inspire them to perhaps get out of their comfort zone and visit them for themselves.
Not coming back to Cambodia, the people are wonderful the temples are beautiful and just taking a moment to really imagine what they would have looked like in the newly built state, what life was like then, imagining people roaming the temples to pray as they do now(without hordes out tourists). Imagining all the artisans that were involved, all the cultures that have come over to Cambodia from surounding areas in Asia to create this melting pot of beautiful food, dances and language evolvement. All of that stuff just fascinate me and I am keen to experience as many of the world’s cultures while I am still alive.
So find what it is that excites you about the world and let that fuel your travel interest. That will also allow you to start planning your trip and figuring out how long to stay in Siem Reap, where to stay in Siem Reap and the best locations in the city to stay. Of course with that in mind, my posts are here to help you plan your trip as are my comment boxes where you can ask questions. I will try as much as possible to help where I can but really the key thing is to get out there and see the world.

From your descriptions and pictures, these places look like a good place to really have a good time, I look forward to the food and the people whenever my family is ready for a family vacation in Asia

Hi Nancy, there are plenty of options but for a big group like that you also have the option of renting out a villa. Most will even arrange to have breakfast delivered to what ever location to stay in Siem Reap you choice. They also can arrange massages to you. You can also option for smaller hotels, accommodation near angkor wat but book early that way you can score all the rooms. Kinda similar to the place we booked. Imagine that mostly available to you and your family members. Such a treat.
