I travel a lot for work and sometimes only home weekends so I have tried and tested all manner of accommodation styles for both professional and personal trips. From luxe to budget and what I always tell people is to shop around and find the best deal for you and your pocket because only you know what your limits are. You may have noticed that my blog feature hostels, apartments, and hotels it really just depends on my mood, budget or type of trip.

You don’t necessarily have to shop for every holiday but my favourite go-to sites for both last minute and holiday staple are below. This includes getting a beautiful hat, travel kits that get the skin glowing and plumped up before you get yourself an authentic holiday glow on vacation.

Travel Essentials

 

Travel Insurance!! Never travel without it unless you have a crystal ball that tells you that nothing bad will happen. So many times I read about people getting stuck. You need this just in case your flight gets cancelled, you lose your luggage or if are in an accident. Yes, even death. No, one likes to think about death when they travel. In addition to all of these reasons, I buy insurance partly because I would hate for my family to be saddled with hundreds of thousands in bills to either get me home in the event something happens to me while I am away.

 

So if not for yourself do it for your family. Also if you are like me and love an adventure(thinking hiking, rock climbing, skiing, walking dangerous paths) then you need to make sure you buy suitable insurance that covers you for the weird and wonderful adventures around the world.

My Camera Equipment

 

Photography Equipment – Another reason you need insurance! If you are a lover of travel and photography no doubt you will have a good stash of photography equipment. I travel with my Nikon DSLR, a few lenses, my GoPro, I also have a Phantom 3 drone but due to upgrade to another one of the DJI Drones, the Mavic Pro as its easier to travel with due to the size and how it folds.

 

All this in addition to accessories, tripods, all this costs MONEY! So why would you not want to protect it? I may have now put out a guide taking great pictures when you travel which includes recommendations, where you are a canon or Nikon person.

 

 Carry-On Essentials

 

With the number of times I travel, I have learned that you don’t have to buy expensive luggage and you also shouldn’t buy cheap as chips type of luggage either. Quality without spending too much money is where you want to go. I have had my pink Longchamp weekender one since forever. They are easy to fold too just in case I need to fold them into a carryon when I know that when travelling back I may buy gifts so instead of buying an additional suitcase at my destination I already have one available that’s easy to travel with.

 

In terms of carry-on the favourites that have lasted me a long time are Samsonite suitcase. I have had these carry-ons for over 5 years! I also recently discovered these Amazon Basics Luggage as my husband and I are back on the crazy travel schedules at work so we needed a variety of sizes above the cabin suitcase.

 

 

Budget Travel

 

I shared a post with tips on how to save money when you travel but other sites I use to save money when I travel. Groupon, wherever you are going make sure you check if there are discounts for activities you might want to take part in at your destination. This is great for tours, restaurants spas, and many more. Also check out timeout which rounds similar discounts but is not as extensive as group-on which doest course, travel packages and other wired and wonderful bits and pieces.

Travel Inspiration

 

I seek inspiration on Instagram, youtube videos but I also scope out G-Adventures, Intrepid, Contiki, Get Your Guide as they sometimes have seasonal discount deals or I may bookmark a tour for my planned travel to a particular destination. Sites like Get Your Guide have fast become a favourite as they cover quite an extensive list of guided tours around the world. I have also used Viator for a couple of tours. If I am in the mood for a road trip, I look no further than G-adventure, Intrepid or Contiki.

Getting Around – Car Rental and Train Travel Information
