Verona has fast become one of my favorite cities in Italy to visit. I have stayed in Verona during a visit when I brought my young sister and then I visited again when I took my older sister to visit Lake Garda. I then visited when picking up my husband when he had a ski accident in Bolzano, so I guess you can see that Italy is one of my most visited countries to date. I am in Italy at least twice a year at a minimum. I already started this year with a trip to Sicily but more on that in posts to come.

1 Verona Historical Centre
The Historic Centre is the historic heart of Verona. This is where you will see all of Verona’s top tourist attractions, and if you are visiting this city the first time you will find best and welcoming people around you. The main street here is Corso Porta Nuova and enclosed by the city’s walls separating it from the Medieval city.
The historic centre of Verona considered the best area to stay due to its traditional architecture buildings, grand piazzas, and quick accessibility to top touristic sights. You can spend days to explore the historical center and all of its main sites, squares, statues, impressive buildings, shopping possibilities, events etc.

“Veronetta” is the name given by Napoleon to a part of the city situated on the left bank of the River Adige which at the time was under the command of the Austrians and Province of Verona. The name comes from French “Veronette”, a derogatory term the French used to indicate a part of the city under Austrian control in the early 1800s.
Veronetta is a lively neighborhood where many students, immigrants and families live. And if you have a limited budget, I’d suggest you to choose Veronetta as your base for where to stay in Verona. The University of Verona is also located in Veronetta, making it a trendy neighbourhood full of clubs, bars, galleries, eateries, shops, and nightlife. Its cultural events and concerts. If you are young & fun loving person you will really love this place.
The area is steeped in history and dates back to the earliest settlements in Verona as it offered a natural shield from attacks from outsiders as well as being on the higher ground helped to avoid the flooding during annual swelling of the Adige River.

This is one of the best place to stays with families. “The Borgo Trento” is located just north of the historic centre of Verona, across the river Adige.
