Are There Beaches In Lake Garda?
Yes, there are plenty of beaches on Lake Garda. Many of the towns have public as well as private beaches run by the hotels on Italy’s largest lake. Some of the beaches are well serviced where you have everything you need for a sunny beach holiday as you would on any sunny beach vacation. You can also do all the same activities you would expect to do on the beaches in Spain, right here on the beaches of Lake Garda.
Does lake garda have sandy beaches?
Yes, Lake Garda has sandy beaches but not many, I have covered one or two sandy beaches below. Many of the beaches on Lake Garda are pebble beaches but still very much enjoyable with clear lake waters.
Best Beaches In Lake Garda (Lago Di Garda Beaches)
Lake Garda makes for the perfect holiday destination as it comes with its own microclimate which produces favourable weather throughout the year. Temperatures can be as high as 18-20 degrees in March and April and October/November too. You can swim in the lake from May to October. With that in mind below are some of the best beaches in Lake Garda.
Also, note that the lake has plenty more beaches beyond these. Some of these can be private beaches that are part of a hotel or accommodation in Lake Garda. Not to worry though as I have also shared below a list of Lake Garda beach hotels where you have access to the hotel’s private beach. So if you are looking for perfect Lake Garda beach holidays, you definitely will not be disappointed.
The crystal clear water in many of the beaches is usually warm, perfect for swimming!

Salo beach like many beaches in Lake Garda is a pebble beach. This is popular with everyone from families, old and young. Great beach for swimming for all ages as you have shallow areas too. You can find a couple of cafes near the beach. You can rent sunbeds and umbrellas. What is amazing about this beach is that there is a really long promenade so if you love long walks on the beach this is amazing. There are plenty of stunning views across the mountains and neigbhouring towns in Lake Garda.
-
Jamaica Beach(Giamaica Beach)
This beach takes its name after the soft white sand beaches of the Carribean Island. While many of the beaches in Lake Garda have pebbles, this lovely small beach in Sirmione has sand. With it being small it can be somewhat popular in the high tourist seasons of the summer months. The crowds are rather too big for the size of the beach. It’s great for swimming, chilling with a drink or coffee in the nearby cafes. If you want somewhere to relax I would suggest picking a different beach nearby for a bit of space and peach and quiet.
-

This is located in Portese and is great for swimming. You have both deep and shallow areas for swimming. There are a couple of restaurants nearby for food and snacks as well as a gelateria too. Its a great place to chill out as its super busy but it also doesn’t have too many facilities so bear that in mind although there are changing facilities nearby.
-
Porto San Felice Beach
This is a pebble beach in Lake Garda and located in Benaco. It’s near a small port where small boats come into. Popular with locals and visitors. Just bear in mind that many bring their own facilities here as it’s small with plenty of decked area. Not a lot in terms of facilities to rent by plenty come here to chill out, sunbath and swim. There are restaurants, pizzerias and bars near too. Dogs are allowed on this beach as this beach stretches on for hundreds of meters.
-
Sabbioni Beach
Sabbioni beach is located in Riva Del Garda and is one of the largest beaches on Lake Garda. This is another lovely pebble beach with a grass area to chill out on. You can chill on the lawn or the beaches along the beach promenade. There are free bathroom facilities nearby where you can change too. This is also great for families too considering that it’s populated with lifeguards throughout the day with other facilities for kids too like playground with trampolines and sandpits.
