Exploring Sloane Square’s Saatchi Gallery

One of my favourite galleries in London. I dont get to venture to this part of London much these days other than when I am passing through to get to Chelsea’s Lomax gym for a little PT.

Saatchi Gallery in the heart of the beautiful Sloane Square houses contemporary and modern art by artists from all around the world.

This was my perfect Sunday escape for a little me-time. I also wanted to see the huge ants that are the stars of the show at Saatchi Gallery.

Colombian Artisit Rafael Gomezbarro’s installation consists of these huge insects the scale the walls of one of the rooms in the gallery and its  so cool to be able to get so close to these pieces.

Opened in 1985 by Charles Saatchi in order to exhibit his collection to the public, its free to visit but I tend to venture there on Sundays as I am guaranteed free undisturbed exploring and enjoyment of the art as Sundays are slightly quieter and less touristy.

It’s beautifully laid out and showcases not only paintings and installations but photography and sculptures too. If art is not your thing then Sloane Square is still a little gem not to be avoided especially if you love a bit of retail therapy.

Here you will find designer boutiques, the kind that will throw you compliments as they take your savings and before you know it you’ll have blown a few more zeros off your bank balance.

That’s all before you can ask if that cute pair of shoes you are eyeing up comes in red too. Retail therapy there is a little more of an enjoyable and relaxed affair than say, oxford Street which is busy, touristy and just too crowded, especially as we head into xmas.

If you are in for bit of shopping check out my post on shops in Sloane Street as well as shops in Knightsbridge which are all nearby.

On this occasion I stuck to the eye candy on show at Saatchi Gallery before retreating to a cafe for a nice latte to relax and contemplate on ushering in Monday on a lighter note.

For additional options on where to eat near Saatchi I have a post on cafes on Kings Road.
